A charity golf tournament is being organized in memory of Andrew Jenicek, a 27-year-old D’Evelyn Jr/Sr High School who was murdered earlier this year.

The tournament, which is being organized by the Colorado Department of Revenue, will be held Sept. 1 at Raccoon Creek Golf Course from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Prior to his death, Jenicek worked at the Department of Revenue for five years. The department had been planning a golf tournament as a team-building event but decided to host it in Jenicek’s honor after he was killed.

“What we want to do with the money is give to D’Evelyn High School to put towards a scholarship in his name,” said Pat Wooden, who is helping organize the event.

Jenicek was living in Lakewood at the time of his death but grew up in Littleton and attended D’Evelyn, where he graduated in 2008, according to his MaxPreps profile. He was active in sports and played varsity football for the school.

Register for the golf tournament by e-mailing Travis Meason at travismeason@yahoo.com by Aug. 17. Checks need to be made to Raccoon Creek Golf Course and sent to Meason prior to that date.
