Mike Feeley will serve as the District 3 representative on the West Metro Fire Protection District board of directors after a landslide victory in Tuesday’s special district election.

According to unofficial election results, Feeley received 251 votes, while opponent Joe Margotte received 18. District 3 primarily covers Lakewood and Morrison and is bounded by Alameda Avenue on the north and Kipling Parkway on the east. This district extends a bit west of C-470 and a bit south of U.S. 285.

Feeley, a 34-year resident of West Metro, once served as a Democratic state senator representing Lakewood. He is married to Lesley Dahlkemper, a candidate for the Jeffco Board of County Commissioners, and is an attorney.

In 1993, Feeley served on the board of the Lakewood Fire Protection District and was involved in the merger that created West Metro in 1995.

Incumbents Marta Murray, Cassie Tanner and Jerry Cassel ran unopposed, thus keeping their positions on the board.

Feeley, Tanner and Cassel will each serve a four-year term, while Murray will serve for two years. The four newly elected members join board president Pam Feely, Mike Munden and Kristina Moeder on the board.

West Metro’s board meets monthly at the fire department’s administrative building on South Allison Parkway in Lakewood. The next board meeting is May 22 at 7 p.m.
