Incumbent Tim James has retained his position on the Foothills Park and Recreation District board of directors, according to unofficial election results released Tuesday evening.

Of the 1,917 votes cast in the Ward 3 election, James garnered 1,282 votes. His opponent, Sheila Lieder, received 635 votes. Only those living within Ward 3 were eligible to vote. Ward 3 is bounded by C-470 on the west, Belleview Avenue on the north and Kipling Parkway on the east.

James, an optometrist at Ken-Caryl Vision Center, served five years on the board prior to re-election. He has lived in the South Jeffco park and recreation district for 13 years.

In an earlier interview with the Courier, James said he felt his job was not yet done. Among other things, he hopes to oversee the use of newly acquired funds from the district’s successful bid for a 2.75-mill increase in November and see the Clement Park project to fruition.

James and newcomer Kyle Butman, the sole Ward 4 candidate, will join current board members Lori Bosanko, Peg Farrar and Bill Meyer. The Foothills Park and Recreation District meets monthly at the Peak Community and Wellness Center. The next board meeting is May 22 at 6 p.m.
