January games of the year 2022 •

The year 2022 is coming to an end and the JPGames.de team would like to present their games of the year to you for the eighth time this year. Each day until December 31, select team members will feature three 2022 favorites as well as next year’s most anticipated titles – today it’s Jan (Rygdea)’s turn.
In a stronger year, The DioField Chronicle probably wouldn’t have made my top 3, but 2022 has been something very special. Even though the strategy RPG lacked budget and time in every nook and ending, the incredibly interesting characters and phenomenal localization just did it for me. The combination of the entertaining game principle then allowed me to play The DioField Chronicle more than once. The fact that with so many games, a Square Enix side project captivates with its ambivalent characters and interesting dialogue was truly one of the biggest surprises of the year.
It’s no secret that heroin is bad for your health! Who knew the gaming equivalent of heroin could be so good for your mental health? I don’t know how many hours I put into this little pixel package. So simple, so elegant and so addictive. One turn is never enough. The cute art design, great range, and regular updates kept me playing for months. And unlike heroin, it costs next to nothing! First on Steam Deck – then came the completely free Android version, which was almost perfectly optimized. Thus, all the secrets were revealed twice, the characters unlocked and the catalogs filled. This is how video games should be! I can’t wait to get into the DLC. 1st place: Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion
Anything else would have totally surprised me. One of my absolute favorite games shone in new splendor a few weeks ago. And hardly a stain was left during polishing. The revamped combat system has made an already great game so much better. Also, the positive response to this game makes me very happy. So many new players are experiencing the gripping and tragic story of Zack with one of the best and most satisfying endings in video game history. The only thing Square Enix should have avoided was dubbing! Honorable MentionsThe year 2022 has completely changed the way I play (for the better). This year marked the release of the Steam Deck. A handheld with the power to play nearly the entire library of games from the last 40 years. I have never played so many matches in a year. I was finally able to experience Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition, go through the horror of the XIII Trilogy in one go, and enjoy countless Square Enix games this fall. Can’t wait the next 40 years! Most Wanted 2023 No way Final Fantasy XVI. For fans of classic offline RPGs, the main offspring of the Final Fantasy series have made a lot of mistakes over the past few years. And actually, I wouldn’t be too excited for a game since the video game industry beat me the hard way. But I trust Naoki Yoshida. This man has earned that trust with his team and I can’t wait for June. Respect the fact that you decided against an open world and for a character-driven adult adventure. That’s how I imagine a good role-playing game. And even if all else fails and it turns out to be a disaster, the soundtrack alone will be worth playing throughout the game!
