Jeffco Public Schools has promoted David Bell, currently the district’s director of employment services, to chief human resources officer after a lengthy hiring process that began in May. Announced June 19, Bell replaces Jeffco’s longtime CHRO Amy Weber, who resigned in early May after more than 12 years in order to spend more time with her family.
According to Jeffco spokeswoman Diana Wilson, Bell was one of 35 applicants and five finalists for the job. Bell has more than 23 years of human resources experience — the past 11 of which are with Jeffco Public Schools. Wilson said in a released statement that Bell’s “deep knowledge of human resources practices, specific experience with Jeffco, and leadership role implementing Jeffco Generations” are key strengths he’ll bring the district at it works to continue attracting top educational talent.
Prior to joining Jeffco Public Schools in 2007, Bell was a benefits manager and HR manager with Isle of Capri Casinos, an HR representative with Whatcom County in Washington, and an HR analyst with Jefferson County in Golden.
Bell’s official start date as CHRO is July 1.
