A Morrison man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 61-year-old Julene Isaacson.

Jerald Arthur Cross, 64, was arrested Oct. 7 on suspicion of first-degree murder after he called the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office to report the incident. Both Cross and Isaacson lived at the home.

According to a press release from the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home in the 5200 block of Pintail Court in Morrison around 5:30 p.m. Oct. 7. The call was initially reported as a stabbing, according to the arrest affidavit, but the deputies found out it was actually a shooting while en route to the home.

Jeffco deputies found Cross at the residence. Although the suspect motioned for them to come inside, the affidavit suggests he was not initially compliant when asked to step away from Isaacson. According to the arrest affidavit, he was attempting to give Isaacson CPR and complained that she would still be alive if medical personnel had arrived earlier. Two deputies “performed a protective sweep of the residence” before Cross ultimately confessed to having shot Isaacson.

Nearly 20 minutes after the Jeffco Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the South Jeffco home, a doctor from St. Anthony Hospital pronounced Isaacson dead.

Cross was arrested around 5:45 p.m. Oct. 7 and booked in the Jefferson County Jail, where he is being held without bond. He appeared in court on Oct. 15 and was advised of his rights. A press release from the Jeffco District Attorney’s Office says charges were filed the following day.
