Stage 1 fire restrictions implemented in Jeffco

The Jeffco Sheriff's Office has enacted temporary stage 1 fire restrictions for all lands in Jefferson County, effective 6 p.m. June 5 due to “current dry conditions favorable for the possibility of a wildfire, and limited availability of fire control resources.”

The fire restrictions prohibit building, maintaining, attending or using any fire or recreational campfire; smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building; open burning; the use of all fireworks and more. Exceptions to the restrictions include use of liquid- or gas-fueled appliances, approved wood-pellet grills, welding and cutting torch appliances, and fire departments or district training fires.

Jeffco's fire restrictions join the current burn ban in Park County, which has been in place since May 23 and prohibits almost all burning on all public and private land in the county.
