A tire failure caused a two-vehicle collision Wednesday night that shut down westbound C-470 and injured one person.

According to John Romero, spokesman with the Lakewood Police Department, a flatbed tractor trailer had a tire failure around 7:45 p.m. Oct. 24 and was hit head on by a tow truck.

The driver of the tow truck was pinned in the vehicle and had to extricated by a team of first responders from West Metro Fire Rescue. He was transported to the hospital and treated for injuries.

A tweet from Lakewood Police indicate the road reopened around 1 a.m.
