Ubisoft postpones Skull and Bones again and cancels three games –

Ubisoft pulled off the feat and actually postponed Skull and Bones once again. Anyone who has counted carefully is counting the sixth shift. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. As also announced, three previously unannounced projects will be dropped. Since they’re not announced, it shouldn’t be Avatar or the Star Wars title, even though those games have been quiet for a while and, as Ubisoft has to admit, the sales and revenue targets profit have not been achieved. This results in cost reductions of 200 million euros and the sale of brands. For the year ending in March, Ubisoft expects a loss of half a billion euros. Things haven’t gone well in the current fiscal year, and as a result, the games that have come out haven’t done well, of course. Specifically, they’re calling it Just Dance 2023 and sadly also Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, which fell short of expectations despite excellent ratings and an ambitious marketing plan. Yves Guillemot blames weak business for Christmas as well as the mega brands of the competition. There would be a trend towards blockbuster brands and “eternal live games”, i.e. Fortnite and Co. – that’s where a lot of consumer spending is going. As a result of these events, the forecasts for the current financial year have of course also been lowered . GamesWirtschaft is already writing about the Ubisoft crisis.
